Sam Mikell is an associate in the firm’s litigation department. His areas of practice include business litigation, local government liability, and insurance defense.

Mr. Mikell is a Savannah native and the son of the late Judge Charlie Mikell, Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals of Georgia. Mr. Mikell graduated cum laude from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts in Politics. During college, Mr. Mikell studied abroad in Beijing, China, where he became fluent in Mandarin Chinese. Also during college, he served as social chair for the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.

Mr. Mikell earned his Juris Doctor at the University of Georgia School of Law, graduating in 2016. At UGA Law, Mr. Mikell was a member of the Georgia Law Review and served on the journal’s Articles Selection Committee. During his first summer in law school, Mr. Mikell clerked for Georgia Court of Appeals Presiding Judge John J. Ellington. Also during law school, Mr. Mikell acted as president of the UGA student chapter of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and Research Assistant to Georgia’s premier evidence law scholar, Professor Ronald Carlson.

Mr. Mikell is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Savannah Bar Association, and the Savannah Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division, for which he serves as Membership Chair.
